Welcome Tower

Welcome to the web site of the Palm Coast Historical Society.

The above Welcome Center was the first building constructed in what is now the City of Palm Coast.  It was 64 ft. high.  Individuals interested in purchasing a home site would take an elevator to the glass-enclosed observation tower.  From there one had a panoramic view of the surrounding woods and lakes, and the location of your lot was pointed out to you.  The Welcome Center was located on Clubhouse Drive and the site was across the canal, to the left of what is now the first hole green of the Palm Harbor Golf Club.  The building was opened in October of 1970.  Sadly, despite efforts to save it by local citizens, it was demolished in 1995.
